The federal government has dubbed 2011 “The Year of the Entrepreneur”, and with so many young people competing for a small number of jobs, many have turned to entrepreneurship in order to strike out on their own. Starting your own business can be a daunting task, and many young people are at a loss when it comes to the business end of entrepreneurial endeavours. They have the spirit, but they’re lacking in know-how. Enter Entrepeer, a brand new program designed with the success of young entrepreneurs in mind.

Entrepeer is the Canadian Youth Business Foundation’s newest initiative designed to connect young entrepreneurs, mentors, and business professionals from across the country. Created in partnership with The Keg Spirit Foundation, Entrepeer creates a community for young entrepreneurs to share information that will allow them to help each other succeed.

The program itself is comprised of three elements. Entrepeer Experience, a series of face-to-face networking events held at The Keg restaurants across Canada. Entrepeer Hub, an online community utilizing LinkedIn to create professional networking opportunities via social media. Finally, Entrepeer Vibe is an e-newsletter created by the CYBF containing content written by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs.

Entrepeer aims to help entrepreneurs take advantage of their biggest asset, other entrepreneurs! If you’ve encountered a certain obstacle when it comes to building your business, chances are good that someone else has run up against the same roadblock and found a way to overcome it. By using Entrepeer, business owners will have easy access to thousands of other people who are in the same situation.

As entrepreneurial ventures begin to occupy more of the Canadian economic landscape, Entrepeer aims to make sure that talented young people have the tools they need to engineer their own success. With a thriving community in place, the future looks promising for young business owners across the nation.
